The SHOPS in YAKUSHIMA

Although shops on Yakushima are rather basic, all the necessities can be found in one of the stores. Here’s the shopping delights.

Large supermarkets

Close to the port, across the road from the Yakushima Environmental and Cultural Center. It has a little bit of everything from electronics to clothes to vegetables.

WAI WAI LAND 
わいわいらんど

Opposite the hospital on the main road south out of Miyanoura. Mostly food but has a hardware section. Good for buying pre-cooked lunch.

A コープ

On the turn off to Shiratani Unsuikyo, this chain supermarket is a great place to pick up pre-cooked food, snacks and drinks.

Large Souvenir/rental stores  

FURUSATO-ICHIBA 
ふるさと市場

Close to Miyanoura port, this large souvenir store also rents bicycles and has a restaurant.

YAKUSHIMA KANKO CENTER 
屋久島観光センター

This center is not only a souvenir shop but has equipment rentals, luggage storage, Ocean view campsite booking, bicycle rentals and lots more.

KOSEDA

DRUGSTORE MORI 
ドラッグストアモリ

A large drugstore which sells a wide variety of things. Close to the airport.

DRUG ELEVEN 
ドラッグイレブン

Drug Eleven is a mainland chain store near the airport and is a large and well-stocked drugstore. It also has a very useful 100 yen shop within it.

SOME’S 
サムズ

A hardware store which also sells everything else. A very useful store..

ANBO

A CO-OP  A コープ

Very close to Anbo port, this chain supermarket is a great place to pick up pre-cooked food, snacks and drinks.

ONOAIDA

The same chain supermarket can be found in Onoaida near the petrol station and is a great place to pick up food and drink.

KURIO

S MART  Sマート

This is the only convenience store in the south of the island and is right in the center of Kurio village.
