Sunrise at Sankara Hotel |
The most difficult thing about explaining about staying at Sankara Hotel is where to start. As part of our Yakumonkey research we stayed here at the end of rainy season in July and it is most definitely a hotel with a world class wow factor.
The main building at Sankara Hotel |
Its location is the first unusual thing as instead of hugging the coast like many other hotels, it is actually at the end of a long winding lane that snakes through the forest upwards on the coastal mountains.
A fleet of electric carts hum their way up and down the hill between exclusive villas and the main building at the top of the resort. There you can mix with the rich and famous as you lounge around the pool and take in the stunning views of the sea and forest all around.

No luxury is spared and no attention to service is ignored. Top chefs prepare world-class French cuisine in their exquisite second floor restaurant and their massage spa brings new meaning to rest and relaxation.
Villa at Sankara |
Of course this may be out of many people’s price range but if it is not, there is little to make you hesitate. It would be difficult to find such quality in such spectacular surroundings not just in Japan but anywhere else in the world.
